In early 2016, our South African customers ordered 300 Aluminum solar road studs. At the end of 2016, we received feedback from this customer that our customers installed those aluminum solar road studs on the freeways.
Installing aluminum solar road studs on highways can illuminate roads without a power grid. Each aluminum solar studs on the highway has its own solar collector and LED lights, and a microprocessor that manages power, so two hours of sunlight can provide them with enough power to illuminate them throughout the day. As a result, even in bad weather, visibility on the road ahead of the one kilometre is ten times higher than that of a headlight that shines on the reflector.
These aluminum solar road studs are powered by solar energy captured from natural sunlight by built-in solar panels and stored in the internal battery of the studs. As a result of this active light output, they provide 10 times more visibility into the road layout ahead than traditional regression reflective road markings, giving the driver up to 900m visibility. This has proved to have a significant impact, reducing night-time road traffic accidents by more than 70 percent.
Safe and sustainable aluminum solar road studs have been shown to improve road safety at night. Provides a road layout view of the undefined natural line of sight in front of the driver, far beyond the vehicle’s headlight beam.
